Took keen hold - held up in rear - steady headway going easily over 1f out - not clear run inside final furlong - soon shaken up - never near to challenge (jockey said gelding ran too free; an enquiry was held into the running and riding of the gelding; the rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race - the rider stated the gelding had run very free in its previous races - so his instructions were to obtain cover and settle him - he added that the gelding was again slightly free in the early stages today - a fact which he reported at Scales - but that he travelled well into the race - before being short of room when going for a run between MR KODI and POTTERS QUESTION - after which the gelding stayed on at one pace - the trainer stated he was satisfied with the ride and it accorded with instructions given - adding that in time - assuming that he settles better - the gelding may be suited by a step up in trip)(tchd 125/1)
