Huntingdon 2m Stan Sheppard Tom Lacey 6 4:16.39 1.5 11-0 9/2
Never better than mid-division - not fluent 4 out - pushed along and no impression from 2 out (an inquiry was held into the running and riding; vet said that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities; jockey said his instructions were to get the gelding into a good rhythm - to jump well and to finish his race off better than it had done previously - he added that he was happy the way the gelding travelled early on - in what he felt was a slow early tempo - he continued to explain that the gelding made a bit of a mistake 4 out - after which he had to ask for an effort to get the gelding back on the bridle and thereafter jumped 3 out big - he further added that having made those mistakes he felt it was necessary to keep a hold of his head to ensure that he met the last two hurdles on the correct stride to avoid falling - he continued that the gelding had been outpaced from 3 out and in his opinion may benefit from a step up in trip; his explanations were noted)(op 5/1)
