Always towards rear - tailed off (jockey said - regarding running and riding - his instructions were to drop gelding in - get him to settle and give him daylight at the hurdles; on his previous start over hurdles at Chepstow - gelding had raced freely and jumped deliberately; jockey further explained that gelding again jumped deliberate on occasions in early stages - before gaining confidence throughout the race; he added that on leaving back straight he became momentarily caught behind a weakening rival - before obtaining clear running to his inside once rail stopped - whereupon he slowly improved his placing whilst passing tired horses; trainer's rep confirmed instructions and stated he was satisfied with ride - agreeing that gelding was still green - learning his job and would in future benefit from a combination of a step up in trip and softer going; he did though state that it was trainer's intention to run gelding again in the near future)(op 80/1)
