Took keen hold - held up in rear - not fluent 3 out - tenderly handled and headway before 2 out - pushed along and went second run-in - not reach winner - eyecatcher (inquiry held into the running and riding of mare - which was held up in rear - before beginning to improve her position racing down the side of the course and then continuing her progress through the field under apparent tender handling up home straight to finish 2nd of 10 runners - beaten by 3 1/4l; jockey stated that his instructions were to switch mare off and take his time as mare ran extremely keen in her previous race before weakening in final furlong - a NH flat race at Newbury; he explained that the objective for today's run was to drop mare out and to get her to finish her race strongly as she was ridden handier at Newbury which resulted in mare emptying out and finishing race fairly distressed; he added that mare raced keenly throughout and that as he began to make up ground turning into home straight - he heard mare make a respiratory noise; he continued that being mindful that it was mare's first run over hurdles - he wanted to ensure she finished her race more positively and therefore focused on keeping the bit up in her mouth - being patient and riding her up straight to hit the line; he reported that he was happy with mare's run as she had finished her race strongly today; both trainer and trainer's rep confirmed instructions and were satisfied ride accorded with those instructions.40-day ban: schoolong in public)(op 7/2 tchd 11/2)
