Didn't always jump with fluency - always behind (jockey said - regarding running and riding - that his instructions were to drop in and get gelding settled as the inexperienced gelding was contesting his first start over hurdles today - and to finish the race having achieved best possible placing; he went on to explain that gelding had made several errors throughout the race and had jumped without any fluency - a fact which he had reported at scales; he explained that as the pace quickened approaching 3rd last hurdle gelding had become detached and subsequently weakened when rounding the bend turning into home straight and that at this stage of race he had allowed gelding to fill his lungs as a consequence of which gelding was able to make up ground on the weakening leaders before coming to the end of his race having made a final jumping error at 2nd last hurdle; trainer confirmed nstructions and expressed his satisfaction with ride)(op 5/1 tchd 9/2)
