Held up in midfield - headway going okay 2f out - soon pressed leaders when pushed along - led when ridden and ran on inside final furlong - clear when wandered around inside final 110yds - comfortably (enq into the apparent improvement in form. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned and also from The Senior Rules Of Racing Handicapper Garry O'Gorman. Garry O'Gorman outlined the horses form - stating that Drakensberg had run to a mark of 75 at the backend of last season. After a 7 month lay off and numerous poor runs he was now running off a mark of 60 and he rated the improvement somewhere in the region of over a stone. The trainer stated that his horses had been under a cloud recently - but appeared to have turned a corner with some of the other horses in his yard running back to form. With regard to this gelding - he added that he had been working well in the last 14 days - which he relayed to the owners and expected the gelding to perform better than his recent runs)(op 5/1)

Briefly led - headed and close up after 1f - pushed along over 2f out - ridden and led again from 2f out - soon edged left - headed but kept on well inside final furlong - no match for winner(op 7/1 tchd 13/2 and tchd 8/1)

Chased leaders - pushed along home turn - ridden over 2f out - switched left when keeping on under 2f out - no extra inside final furlong - no match for first two(op 15/2)
