Slowly into stride - behind - ridden 3f out - no impression until kept on strongly inside final furlong - nearest finish (An enquiry was held into the running and riding of the gelding which was held up in rear - before running on in the closing stages to finish seventh of ten - beaten by 3 ¾ lengths. The rider stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding as he found it - bearing in mind that it had run too freely in the past. Jockey said that he was happy to drop his mount in as he felt that the other runners had gone off too quickly and that the gelding had hung right-handed at various stages throughout the race - a fact which he had reported at scales. Jockey further added that the gelding had an awkward head carriage and - in his opinion - would be suited by running over a longer trip and a more galloping track.)(op 14/1 tchd 16/1)
