Held up in rear - jumped badly left 3rd - still plenty to do when not clear run home turn - not fluent 2 out - soon ridden - keeping on when hit last - went fourth towards finish (enquiry held into the running and riding of the gelding - which appeared to be ridden with tender handling when turning into the home straight - before finishing fourth of nine runners - beaten by 16 lengths. The vet reported that a post-race examination of the gelding - during routine testing - found it to be slightly lame when trotted up post-race. Jockey stated that his instructions had been to ride the gelding up with the pace if possible. He added that the field had gone a very good gallop and he felt that the gelding was outpaced by this fast pace - jumped novicey and slightly left-handed throughout. He further added that when turning into the home straight - the gelding had been slightly hampered - a fact which he reported at scales - before running on past tired horses in the final stages of the race. Trainer's rep confirmed the instructions and stated that he was satisfied that the ride accorded with those instructions)(op 4/1 tchd 10/3)

Raced freely - prominent - led before 2nd - hit 4th - ridden and headed home turn - weakened quickly and pulled up before 2 out(op 7/2 tchd 3/1)

Soon became detached and struggling - behind when mistake 3 out - tailed off when pulled up before 2 out(op 33/1)

Midfield - headway after 5th - went third home turn - soon ridden - held 2 out - saddle slipped and unseated rider last(op 40/1 tchd 66/1)
