The vet reported that a post-race examination of the gelding - during routine testing - found it to be slightly lame when trotted up post-race. Jockey stated that his instructions had been to ride the gelding up with the pace if possible. He added that the field had gone a very good gallop and he felt that the gelding was outpaced by this fast pace - jumped novicey and slightly left-handed throughout. He further added that when turning into the home straight - the gelding had been slightly hampered - a fact which he reported at scales - before running on past tired horses in the final stages of the race. Trainer's rep confirmed the instructions and stated that he was satisfied that the ride accorded with those instructions)(op 4/1 tchd 10/3)
