Prominent - lost ground after 8th - niggled along briefly after 5 out - tenderly handled from 4 out - headway and went third run-in - bled from right nostril (jockey said his instructions were to jump off and sit where he was happy with gelding which was making his chase debut; he jumped well for the majority of the race despite losing his handy pitch when outpaced down back straight; he added gelding did not respond to his urgings on long run approaching home turn and felt gelding was going as fast as he could in the circumstances for some distance thereafter and had only passed tiring horses under a hands and heels drive from the last fence; trainer's rep confirmed instructions and that ride had accorded with them on gelding's first run since another wind operation; vet had nothing to report initially; however one hour after race an examination revealed gelding to have bled from the right nostril)(op 9/2 tchd 7/1)
